If you’re anything like me, you enjoy working out tremendously. Anytime, I get the chance, I attempt to work my cardio.
Recently, I have started building muscles throughout my body. In order to do this, I’ve purchased a set of adjustable dumbbells, which I use to work my arms, chest and shoulders.
When I first started searching for a sufficient pair, I took to the Internet and did my research. Ultimately, I decided to purchase the Stamina Versa-Bell II Dumbbell – 10-25 lbs.
Although they’re slightly cheaper, I have been impressed thus far. Below, I will provide a thorough review of this particular set of dumbbells.
The Design and Tray
When I initially captured a glance of these dumbbells, I was somewhat unimpressed. Suffice to say, they’re not flashy or terribly stylish.
Instead, they’re fairly basic and do not impress in terms of aesthetics. Still, the dumbbells are capable of fitting the included tray to perfection.
Although a stand is available and sold separately, I did not feel it was necessary for my specific situation. Instead, I placed the dumbbells on a bare table and they worked wonderfully.
I do recommend keeping the dumbbells off of the ground. If you do not, you put yourself in danger of experiencing back injuries.
Adjusting the Weight
With adjustable dumbbells, it is absolutely imperative to find a set, which is equipped with a sufficient adjustment system.
If you do not, you will find yourself spending a significant amount of time trying to adjust the weights. Rest assured that the Stamina Versa-Bell II Dumbbell are equipped with a dial mechanism.
With this type of system, it is possible to easily place the dumbbells in the tray and turn the dial, in order to adjust the weight.
Once adjusted to your desired specifications, lift the dumbbells and begin working out. Although it doesn’t need to be said, twisting the knob in one direction will add weight and twisting it in the other will remove weight.
While the adjustment system is important, the potential weights and increment changes are even more important. If you do not choose a set, which suits your needs, you may not be able to get a worthwhile exercise.
This shouldn’t be an issue with the Stamina Versa-Bell II Dumbbell, since they’re capable of adjusting the weight from 10 to 50 pounds.
The handle, which weights 10 pounds, is equipped with 8 chrome plates. Each of these weighs 5 pounds each. Therefore, it is possible to change the weight by 5 pounds, at a time.
Some people will be concerned about the inability to drop below 10 pounds, but I generally haven’t had an issue with this.
Although I’ve enjoyed my time with this set of adjustable dumbbells, they’re not without flaws. The biggest issue I’ve experience is the potential of the plates detaching themselves from the bar.
This can create a dangerous situation. Another negative is the terribly limited warranty, which is only 90-days. Still, I cannot necessarily complain, as the dumbbells have worked wonders for me and I am already beginning to experience results from my workouts!
